Bill Brookover
Bill Brookover (he/him) uses pattern and geometry to express the tension between chaos and harmony in modern life. His work is a response to the unsettling times we live in. Even before the COVID-19 global pandemic, we’ve been living in a world of constantly accelerating change brought on by the rise of digital technology, globalized economies, & climate change.
He makes prints using traditional printmaking techniques of screenprint, relief, & intaglio along with cut paper and cyanotype. Born in West Texas, he started his artistic career in architecture & fine arts at Rice University. After graduate studies in historic preservation at Columbia University, he worked for over 30 years in architecture and historic preservation with the National Park Service.
He began studying printmaking at Fleisher Art Memorial in 2003, where he now teaches. He’s shown his work in solo, curated and juried exhibitions, and has curated exhibitions at Da Vinci Art Alliance and the Print and Picture Collection of the Free Library of Philadelphia. He serves on the Exhibitions Committee at Da Vinci Art Alliance and the board of the American Color Print Society.
